Born in Shanghai in 1960
Graduated from the Department of Traditional Chinese Painting at Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Fine Arts) in 1988, and later obtained a doctoral degree from the calligraphy department of the college
Currently a professor at Fudan University, Wang Tiande is renowned overseas for his revolutionary innovation in traditional Chinese art and is regarded as one of the most important artists in the development history of contemporary Chinese ink painting
