On May 13, 16:00 p.m., the Common Art Center will present Korean artist Pacowhy's solo exhibition "Pacowhy's Graphic Novels", including Find Your Identity, Comics Strip, Gold Card, The Rabbit of 2023, and The Tiger of 2022 of five series of works, showing the visual charm that the artist brings to graphic novels. The exhibition is co-curated by Trend Art curator QuChen Xu and Modern Sky MVM Visual Label Manager Li Jiamu. The exhibition runs until June 20.

Pacowhy's work is characterised by cartoon appropriation, bold color blocks and eclectic narrative collage graffiti. In this solo exhibition, we are immersed in the world of cartoon narrative, not limited and solidified by the content seen in the picture, and can easily feel the healing and brain hole brought to us by creativity.

Pacowhy was born to be an artist, and he developed a strong interest in painting from an early age, and unconsciously painted and altered his photos, which caused him a lot of trouble. He felt that the university art education for the exam was not his direction, and in the karma meeting of military service, Pacowhy learned a high-level Korean cooking craft, which began a 10-year career as a food stylist, because of the precipitation and accumulation of this time, a little depressed, so when he recreated in 2019, Pacowhy could finally express himself as he wanted, combining the touching experiences he encountered in childhood and travel to Spain and the United States. Also influenced by idols Picasso, Basquiat and other artistic predecessors, Pacowhy began various series of collage creation, and found his own artistic label, so he stumbled all the way and confidently became himself, opening his graphic novel.

Hello everyone, I'm Qu Chenxu, and I'm honored to curate Pacowhy's solo exhibition at the Common Art Center. The Common Art Center has been a very good gallery in promoting young artists and emerging artists in recent years, and I am fortunate to carry out a series of collaborations with Mr. Bao through such an exhibition and space.Pacowhy's works integrate many elements such as graffiti and collage, and present a relatively mature appearance. The style and subject matter of Pacowhy are a very typical case of current trend art. I believe that many audiences and collectors also pay attention to works of similar styles, but they are more interested in why the artist chose this style and what kind of state it is in the usual creative process, so we try to restore the artist's first perspective when setting up the exhibition, and restore a more real and vivid Pacowhy through his works, creative notes, studio environment, on-site creation works, etc.This exhibition features works on five themes, including the "Identity of the Artist" series, which contains a lot of his thoughts on himself as an artist, and there are many questions that every artist encounters, so what is his answer to these questions, you can take such questions to enjoy Pacowhy's works together.
Speech by MVM_ visual designer_Mr. TommyI am Tommy from Modern Sky MVM, and I am particularly honored to represent Modern Sky in this solo exhibition of Mr. Paocwhy. Because I myself have been doing street art culture for more than ten years, I was especially fortunate to see Mr. Pacowhy's works in China, and his works are all about his life experience. I also grew up watching Mickey mouse, and the epitome and life feeling of each animation clip is actually each of his works.

Speech by Ms. Bao Yu, co-founder of the Common Arts CenterPacowhy's works are known for their cartoon image appropriation of post-80s childhood, bright and bold color blocks and eclectic narrative collages, constructing fairy tale worlds of Mickey Mouse, Astro Boy's graffiti, old newspapers and psychedelic jazz collages, and the unrestrained and jumping colors shock the viewer's heart, while being sincere and resonant.Pacowhy expresses himself with a very confident, affirmative and reflective attitude, can I always hear that this work is original? Is there a copyright? Our artistic creation has too many constraints and untouchable content, and this simple joy with creativity is what we lack, and it is also the voice of this generation of children who grew up watching robot cat animation, and the reason why the Common Art Center chose his works.
