The "popular trend of traditional culture" has become an ongoing artistic phenomenon in the 21st century. Like many interesting cases in the history of art, the development logic of things is sometimes full of inherent contradictions, which is beyond common sense but extremely vital. Baroque was first regarded as a "strangely shaped pearl", but it was later transformed into a touching luxurious style and an irresistible dramatic atmosphere. Elements of Chinese culture also showed the popular energy and oriental charm of "Chinese style" in the process of Rococo art spreading throughout Europe in the 18th century. However, in the context of this moment, the underlying logic of all art and aesthetics has undergone a qualitative transformation. The real core of Chinese culture and traditional art has begun to appear as a kind of "consciousness", and a mechanism from the "national tide power" is gathering into new energy.
This is an era of regrouping the world order. Everything appears as the uncertainty and occurrence of "progress". The stable order originally established in the 20th century is out of order, and the continuous experience of "all solid things disappear" discussed by Marshall Berman is constantly happening. The melting picture and its dialectics reveal to us how to face the present moment. Before the new context is established, everything must undergo the creation of transformation. This is destined to be an era when new things happen again.
In the art world since "2020", the integration of "popular factors" and "traditional culture" shows an unstoppable trend, and its "national trend power" is interpreted as a visual culture scheme. In the complex transformation of the underlying logic of "cross contradictions", the surface form is reflected in the extension of relaxation, pleasure and comfort. The artist's creative motivation is touching and approaching the core of traditional culture, and the relationship between "other culture" and "my culture" is transformed into the "popular factor" in the conscious development of traditional culture
"Yige" has a very rich meaning in Chinese traditional culture. "Yi" is the calmness and nature of spiritual liberation and promotion. Its character is destined to be noticed by keen fashion art creators, and it is inspired to extract and transform into new elements in mobile aesthetics. For example, we see in Jiang Wanlin's works how the popular meaning of "jeans" is transformed into landscape images of Yipin; in Bloomberg's pictures, we see how traditional cloud patterns and scattered perspective planet images produce wonderful and imaginative combinations; in Zhang Wean's sculptures, we see the balance of naughty small animals. The elegant expression of the four claws and the four legs of the home bench; in the works of the south, I saw how the popular sports skateboard on the streets of the city produced a personalized semantic transformation with meaningful traditional symbols; in Wang Ruilin's sculpture, I saw the smooth and calm whale's half-dew of the fairy mountain, carrying nature and dreams with life. Thinking and divine; in Zhi Peng's paintings, I can see that the transparent vision of jade contains vibrant traditional elements and the potential of trendy art. The artist's creation interprets the popular trend of "Yige's transformation" being released. Just as we can't define the final result of the generation of things, the charm of the world is here. Traditional culture can also become a "happy paradise" of popular culture today. If someone sees what they like in it, firmly believes in your feelings and judgments, and takes it home!

Curator Wang Meng
I am very happy that many friends are here today. This exhibition was jointly planned by Mr. Li Sixian and me. I think it is different from my usual exhibition. This is that it is an exhibition focusing on fashion culture and fashion art. This is also the direction I paid special attention to before, especially after 2020, Chao Art is particularly active in China. However, how to plan an exhibition of trendy art in an academic sense is also an experimental direction. So, I am very happy to plan this exhibition for teachers from the south, Jiang Wanlin, Zhang Wei, who is far away in Berlin, and artists who can't come to the scene. The theme of the exhibition is "The Transformation of Yige". From the academic content, I want to introduce to you. The concept of "Yi" has a very rich meaning in ancient Chinese aesthetics. In the foreword, I also briefly combed the cultural history of Yi. A simple interpretation summary is Yipin, which is the spirit. After liberation and ascending, a calm or natural state is formed. Such an elegant product will definitely attract the attention of contemporary fashion art or fashion culture creators, and it can definitely be transformed into an aesthetic element with mobility today.
I became interested in fashion art. In 2020, I saw a solo exhibition of KAWS in Melbourne. The theme was called "Accompanied in the Age of Loneliness". For the first time, I had a more systematic understanding of this kind of fashion art artists. Back in our country, since 2020, the direction of "tide" has also developed for two years and is particularly vigorous. From the perspective of cultural history, we are in an early state of occurrence. The Common Art Center has keenly completed many exhibitions in this direction and cooperated with many good artists. I especially hope that I can communicate with artists with this exhibition, and I also hope that each of our artists can find the aesthetic focus that we are interested in in the relationship between ancient Chinese aesthetics and contemporary fashion culture.
Just like the inspiration from KAWS, tide art can be an eternal phenomenon, but each art may take some time to build its own creative system. If each of our artists can have a complete system, then the concept of "national trend" in China, I think it can bring important inspiration to the collection world and creators. It is expected that the concept of "tide" can have a good development direction in China. I really hope to have the opportunity today to have a long-term relationship with Mr. Jiang Wanlin and four artists who have interacted online in the future, so that they can contribute to the new contemporary art content of better fashion art and fashion culture in this direction. Thank you.
Curator Li Sixian
This exhibition is entitled "The Transformation of Yige", which is one of the evaluation criteria that runs through the Chinese calligraphy and painting industry for thousands of years. In the four products of "Magic and Energy", it is regarded as a detachment, super vulgar symbol, with unconventional characteristics. The theme of this exhibition is to focus on images and cultural symbols entangled in oriental aesthetics. Different artists have made contemporary transformations of traditional culture in the works of different media, rewriting the popular trend of traditional culture.
Artist Nanfang
Hello, everyone. I'm the artist Nanfang. I'm very happy to participate in the exhibition of the Common Art Center this time. Bao Yu went to my studio and chose the skateboard series I recently created. Personally, I combined traditional art with printmaking art, showing the appearance of the current work. So, I really hope to communicate with you more today. I have always been on the scene. Thank you...
Artist Jiang Wanlin
Hello, everyone. I'm Jiang Wanlin. Today, I am very honored to participate in the "Yige Transformation" organized by Mr. Wang Meng and Mr. Li Sixian. I am very excited to come to the Common Art Center this time. We have cooperated for four years. The work I brought this time is also my classic work: Jeans Landscape. When many friends see this style of work, they will ask me why I chose to use jeans for artistic creation, which is actually related to my personal experience and learning experience. My undergraduate and master's degrees are all about traditional Chinese literati landscape painting. In the process of studying, I went abroad to study. My understanding of contemporary art was completed in the process of walking. Over the years, I have been thinking about whether the objects we use in our daily life are garbage after completing the use value. As an artist's thinking, I want to turn these old objects into valuable things. I think they are just misplaced resources. So I chose the medium of cowboys. The once cold and elegant literati landscape painting was because of its modern body temperature and the smell of fireworks. In the future, my creation is also devoted to the topic of environmental protection and consumption. I will tell Chinese stories in the language of the world and convey a new aesthetics. I hope that more wonderful works will be presented to you in the future. I also wish that the future of common art can get better and better.

Co-sponsor of the Common Art Center
I am very happy that so many guests have come to our opening ceremony. Our gallery belongs to a relatively young group in this industry, and our focus has always been on the contemporary transformation of traditional culture. In this exhibition, we selected six artists, and only two artists arrived at the scene. There were artists far away in Germany and artists who could not come to the scene in different cities due to the epidemic, but this did not prevent us from communicating with each other.
When we see the appearance of artists now, the most intuitive feeling is that they are more inclined to popular culture. Whether it is the color of their pictures or the art form, they more or less convey such a concept. Therefore, we are very careful about how to choose artists in our gallery. We do not only focus on the pursuit of popular culture, but also pay more attention to the traditional Chinese aesthetic forms contained in it. Just like these artists this time, their connotation has this kind of folk skill, and the traditional aesthetic form is worthy of respect, as well as their own application method and language. So, I hope that this time you can learn about the artist's creation process and their unique thinking while seeing the surface of the work of art.
LIVE STRAIGHT HIT
A group photo of the guests presents
Jiang Wanlin pays attention to the relationship between her personal experience and memory and the whole era. What she insists on expressing and digging is also a real way of life and attitude.
Solid systematic learning of Chinese painting, the poeticization of the Eastern spirit of Spanish media has broken through the boundary between art and life, and the experimental innovation has a fresh activity.
Nanfang has re-growed the symbols in traditional Chinese culture into a new image with its own aesthetic characteristics through the conversion of trendy language.
And integrate the symbolic information elements that resist each other and have nothing to do with each other in the two cultures of trend and tradition, and convert them into a compound logic of mutual misappropriation and reference.
Pengbo has also been building his own virtual world with traditional Chinese painting in the picture.
With the big-scale development of science and technology, the ancient painting language of ink is presented. With the development of science and technology, we will open the "door" to space and the universe and connect with other "civilizations" in the universe. The foreseeable future, the random conversion of virtual and reality.
Wang Ruilin is obsessed with how to show and control energy in his works. He sometimes hides energy under a calm appearance. The sea is like a gentle breeze, and the undercurrent is surging but calm.
The Ark of the work is an example. Calm and comfortable, the fairy mountain is half exposed, and the whale stretches flat. The carrying form of life to nature and the material of cast copper are used to depict a constant and stable atmosphere
In Zhang ruo's sculpture, all kinds of naughty animals have different postures and elegantly balance the four claws on the home bench.
Like the feeling in the fairy tale fable, the expression of the work is cute and condensed, conveying the spirituality and diversity of the birth.
Zi Peng's works are like the fusion of balloons and jade. Cheap childhood toys collide with luxury gems to show a difference. Peng showed the classic works from a modern perspective from a new perspective.
“The Painting of Flying Butterflies in Chrysanthemum" by Zhu Shaozong in Song Dynasty, Cui Bai's "Love picture of reed flowers " and "A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains” they all the grain pattern reflected on the surface of the jade
The artist carries the spirit of traditional Chinese literati painting with his works.
This exhibition selects six artists and nearly 50 representative works.
Art forms span traditional and modern, Eastern and Western, sculpture and oil painting
hope to bring everyone a diversified exhibition experience.

Founded in 2015, Common Art Center is the first contemporary art gallery with a crowdfunding membership system in China. The Common Art Center is jointly initiated by experienced curators, art dealers, collectors and other professionals in the field. It is committed to providing professional collection solutions for contemporary art collectors with a new business model. The gallery takes "paper" as the medium and works of media as its main research and management direction, because of the importance of such works in the Chinese art system and the broad development prospect in the future. Using paper and folk art as the medium, the excellent artists make paper as a tool to resist its fate, allowing it to get rid of the veil of function and reveal its own artistic value.
