Preface
Curator / Mang Su
In this exhibition, we will show you the works of KwonNeung and Fangwei Yang. We can see from the picture style that both artists have adopted the concept of image theatre. However, the world they depict is completely different or even opposite.
KwonNeung 's works are exactly the history of art in his eyes. A large number of IPs are combined and presented in a long scroll. These works are filled with a human gaze. They either stare at the viewer or pose under the gaze. This kind of gaze is completely from the secular perspective and permeates mass culture and life experiences.
Under these different faces, we are familiar with the scene of life. Here we can smell the humid air in Shanghai at night and hear the noise in the downtown garden. The audience will always be firmly grasped by a pair of eyes and inadvertently fall into the memory of a certain day. From these paintings, we can see the world itself, as if a person's history is magnified bit by bit. Interestingly, in every frame and every painting, I in this world is wrapped in the eyes of myself and others. Everywhere, whether deep or shallow gaze, I cannot help but sigh at how people and things in this world float and sink in the tide of the secular world.
In a person’s art history, my blood and flesh have touched thousands of lives like mine over a period of time. They also live in the noise, with sand on their feet and rain on their shoulders. I am pushed forward in this crowded body.
"This World" Fangwei Yang in the exhibition
There is no truth in this world. The truth in my eyes is just what I see. Fangwei Yang's works provide a completely opposite perspective to the human gaze. In his works, the world is presented from the perspective of fragmentation, which not only refers to the combination of objects and images in artistic style, but also the changes of the same object and image in multi-dimension. The person on the typewriter paper may be sitting on the text describing him? The fresh peacock on the chair may be just neat little squares in the digital world? The person with his back to the mirror may never look out of his eyes in the mirror?
In Fangwei Yang's works, the material is not a solidified body but an invisible body which cannot be defined due to its differences in dimensions. In my eyes, it has temporarily acquired a shape. However, I need to recognize the limitations and simplicity of this shape, as well as its infinite mobility in other eyes.
The process of watching Fangwei Yang's works is a process of pulling away from a single perspective. The viewer's eyes wander into the debris and enter an ambiguous and flowing world dimension. I realized that many things, time and space coexist with me, even beyond my perception. I am aware of the deep connection between myself and the world from the same root and source, and I also realize that the world in my eyes is one-sided and incomplete. My world is filled with pieces of flowing fragments.

It's a great pleasure that all of you have attended the 798 Common Art Center to visit the solo exhibition of artist Fangwei Yang and KwonNeung. When planning this exhibition with President Bao, we decided to make a special exhibition. We have seen individual exhibitions, double exhibitions and group exhibitions, so we decided to make a unique exhibition-in-exhibition. The so-called "exhibition in the exhibition" has two meanings: one is because they are two excellent young Asian artists, KwonNeung from South Korea and Fangwei Yang from China. Another reason is that the creative ideas of the two artists are so unique.
Yu Bao and I planned the first exhibition of KwonNeung in China and received very successful feedback. I think art is the spiritual pillar of a country. Everyone who studies art has a dream of remaining famous in art history. The theme of the exhibition of KwonNeung is "A Person’s History of Art". He retells the image theatre that once existed in the Louvre. It is like the French liberty leading the people. There are both those magnificent scenes and the IP that all young people like in the present. I think this is the creativity of an artist.
Fangwei Yang, the theme of our exhibition for him is called this world. At present, we often hear a sentence: Is the world all right? What's wrong with the world? Fangwei Yang made the best response with his own art. No matter what the world is like, we are part of the world and are also the creators of the world. No matter what the big environment is, an artist should still have his own inner world. I am very happy to see an artist express his inner world, and I am also glad to be able to make this exhibition for him in Yu Bao's new art center. So, I hope you can watch more exhibitions sometimes, thank you!

Thank you. I was very excited to hear Ms Mang Su's speech. Here, I would like to say that I am very happy to hold this solo exhibition in this space to present my works and creations. The creation of an artist is actually quite difficult, and many times it is even a wall-facer. Can't find a breakthrough or direction. Fortunately, when my new idea was presented, Ms. Yu Bao gave me a lot of encouragement after seeing my work and preparing this exhibition. My last exhibition in Beijing was also planned by Ms. Bao Yu for me six or seven years ago. Today, we can cooperate again and hope to convey another meaning of art. Thank you again.
Artist
Kwon Neung
Hello, I am KwonNeung. In fact, when I was a college student, I didn't like art history very much, but then one experience changed my mind. When I was a sophomore in college, one time I went to Hong Kong to participate in an art fair. It was the first time in my life that I saw the works of famous artists and artists who can only be seen in books. At that time, it was only a flash, but after returning to school, my thoughts changed. I started to think about the clues of the great artists and started to imagine what it would be like if the context returned to the scene of life. So, I started this series. I think all art history has been integrated into our life, and new art and history have been born from our era. I hope you can also feel the artistic charm I have experienced in daily life through my works.

Thank you very much for coming to the second exhibition of our new museum as scheduled. During the process of curating the exhibition, we discussed a lot of issues about the exhibition-in-exhibition with Ms Mang Su. First of all, there are certain differences between the two exhibitions. At the level of creative logic, there are two extremes, and the works of the two people are very interesting. They both use images to misappropriate and superimpose, but the power is to reproduce the creation realistically, while Fangwei Yang uses the deconstruction, construction and superimpose of painting to have a painting style, which are two extremes. We present them.
Together. I think this exhibition is a good case for some collectors and those who are going to become collectors. We can see the different directions of the painting.
Our gallery has been focusing on meta-modern art, as well as the contemporary transformation of oriental aesthetics and subculture, that is, its own traditional culture. I believe that in fact, we can create works of art that are different from those in the West. This is the concept we are advocating. We also hope our gallery can achieve a win-win situation through in-depth cooperation with excellent artists, curators and collectors. Thank you for coming again.
Live straight hit
Yang Fangwei's work is about thinking about time and space.
The artist experimented on the picture to discuss the multi-dimensional level of performance.
Among the fragments of life, there are the most well-known popular cultural symbols.
There are also geometric shapes that symbolise the entry and exit symbols of time-travelling space.
In Yang Fangwei's picture, you will follow the artist's footsteps and feel the unique sense of science fiction and digital.
The works of KwonNeung are not only the stacking of symbols, but also the confusion of time and space and the intersection of consciousness.
His works are deeply influenced by Sartre's existential philosophy.
This relationship between existence and non-existence reflects a short-lived and fleeting sense of beauty in the works of power.
The real world, the world of real reproduction, and the pure fantasy world can be in the same space.

Founded in 2015, Common Art Center is the first contemporary art gallery with a crowdfunding membership system in China. The Common Art Center is jointly initiated by experienced curators, art dealers, collectors and other professionals in the field. It is committed to providing professional collection solutions for contemporary art collectors with a new business model. The gallery takes "paper" as the medium and works of media as its main research and management direction, because of the importance of such works in the Chinese art system and the broad development prospect in the future. Using paper and folk art as the medium, the excellent artists make paper as a tool to resist its fate, allowing it to get rid of the veil of function and reveal its own artistic value.
