The volcanic quality soaked by the flow of the black tide
Text / Lv Aihua
At first glance, it is difficult for Jin Junjie's works not to be lost in the flowing light and shadow he creates, with vivid color contrasts carrying the shadow of Impressionism. In some familiar colors, I seem to see Monet's "Haystacks" and "Rouen Cathedral", and Shura's "Sunday of the Big Bowl Island". My gaze slowly slid over every corner of the canvas, trying to find the artist's hidden forms in the abstract lines. However, these surging forms gradually distorted under the diffuse halo and eventually came to nothing. On the contrary, I was trapped in whirlpools, coils of spider silk, as if going against the tide in the dark, unable to break free.
He transforms the scenes of the real world into abstract language through sketching and feeling, without being confined to objective reality. In this way, the contradictions and collisions in the picture become more intense, and the colors become more colorful and free, as if it were a vague impression in nature, triggering unlimited imagination and imagination for viewers. While freely using colors, it also has a planned hierarchy and sense of space.
As a result, my gaze uncontrollably shifted to the engravings on the canvas. Observing these attempts to engulf me in detail, these patterns are not as light as water flow, not even smooth and soft, but more like etchings left on hard rocks. These resilient lines are chaotic and seem to exist within their own laws, like the surging tides of open and dark currents sweeping through them.
At this point, I also understood where the initial sense of contradiction I felt in the picture came from. On the one hand, it was a lively and spring tinged joy, while on the other hand, it was a heavy weight wrapped in an irresistible force. Therefore, the theme of this exhibition continues to be one of the artist's works, the volcanic material soaked in the water flow of the Kuroshio, aiming to showcase the organic and diverse vitality of the works to the audience.

Junjie Jin's solo Exhibition
2024.3.07-4.10
Curator:Aihua Lv
On March 9, 2024, at 4:00 pm, the Joint Art Center presented a solo exhibition by Jin Junjie titled "Volcanic Matter Immersed by the Kuroshio Current". The exhibition was curated by renowned designer Lu Aihua. Jin Junjie graduated from the Lacquer Art major of the Public Art Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. It is a relatively niche craft major, but it will teach people strong hands-on skills, constantly strengthening their sensitivity to colors and familiarity with materials. The creative style developed by lacquer painting, combined with innate talent and acquired wisdom, has gradually given birth to Jin Junjie's highly recognizable "planer drawing" technique, presenting a strong sense of rhythm and "traces of time" in his works.

Jin Junjie's creations revolve around his life state and understanding and imagination of world things. His artistic language tradition is not confined to the old customs, abstract but also close to reality. Jin Junjie said, "I never worry that creation will dry up, because life continues and the world is also changing."
He presents natural scenes such as forests, oceans, and starry skies in his works, conveying his feelings of all things in the world with unique lines and colorful colors. In these swirling and beautiful scenes, the boundaries of the content become increasingly blurred, even eliminated. The exhibition will continue until April 10th.

Hello everyone, I am an interior designer and good friends with the gallery owner of the Common Art Center. It is my great honor to be invited by the gallery owner to participate in this curation. I also really like the works of Professor Jin Junjie. The entire exhibition theme revolves around the characteristics of artist Jin Junjie's works. When I saw the original works exhibited by the artist, it gave me a deep impression of beautiful colors, orderly and free textures, vibrant vitality, and dark sadness. When we go to see Teacher Jin's works, each of us has a lot of divergent imagination.
We can imagine the jungle, sunshine, sea, reefs, every plant and every tree, children's graffiti works, and even think of the movie Avatar, which is a very beautiful presentation. When we see the black toned artwork separated by a wall, it reminds us of the eruption of a volcano, with Mars, gravel, and a burst of tenacious vitality. This has also become the name of this curation, "Volcanic Matter Immersed in the Current of the Kuroshio".
After reading the works of Teacher Jin Junjie, everyone may also be very curious about his creative process. When he creates, he first lays more than ten layers of acrylic paint, and then carves on the wooden board with varying depths and lengths. Each piece of work has tens of thousands of carving marks, and he has been very careful to preserve the acrylic paint fragments carved over ten years, sticking together as hard as rocks. I think this is a work of time. So I also displayed these pigment blocks, just like other works, to receive everyone's attention and appreciation. Everyone still needs to come to the scene to experience Teacher Jin Junjie's works up close, in order to have a more authentic experience. Thank you for coming! Thank you all!
Deputy Director of the Ethnic Art and Art Committee of the China Artists Association
Honorary Chairman of Guangxi Artists Association, Teacher Xie Lin, delivered a speech on site
The core of Xiao Jin's works showcases the process of vigorous and thin hair or extended growth of vitality. I have always believed that contemporary and abstract art in China has gone through this process, especially in the 798 Art District. We are influenced by foreign cultures, but true Chinese abstract art should take root and sprout locally. Contemporary art in China has not yet formed its own unique framework. We see many shadows of foreign contemporary art, but Chinese contemporary art should develop from our own land, born here, grown here, and beautiful there.
Xiao Jin (Jin Junjie) drew inspiration from the process of lacquer painting and created a new artistic language form in the mother art of lacquer painting. Therefore, he is one of the painters with pioneering spirit and creativity, which is not common among young painters, and his artistic language is highly personalized. His works reflect unique spirituality and characteristics. He was born and raised in Hunan, where his entire culture and artistic cultivation were influenced. Then he went to live in Guangxi, which is considered a subtropical region with vibrant vitality. Therefore, his works are full of images of subtropical life forms, although abstract, we can still feel the vibrant vitality.
Later, he came to Shenzhen, a city with a high concentration of contemporary Chinese culture, economy, and technology. His works integrate urban culture and cultural content, such as subways, public art, and maps of Shenzhen city. His works truly express his inner emotions, showcasing an art full of vitality and rich emotions. We feel that his aesthetic has a vibrant, positive and beautiful spiritual form. He presents his spiritual world to us, which is a beautiful world. Congratulations to him.

Hello everyone, I am artist Jin Junjie. Thank you very much to the Common Art Center, to the curator Lv, to Professor Bao Yu and the gallery's work team, as well as to the friends who came to the venue today. I am majoring in lacquer painting at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, so my works are influenced by the art of lacquer carving. The works of this exhibition are mainly based on one's own feelings and experiences of things in life.
Because I live in the south, where the year-round green vegetation, sunlight, and humid climate, as well as the texture of the seaside reefs and the color formed over time, all affect my creativity, I still hope that my works can move towards painting. It is a great honor to exhibit at the Common Art Center. Thank you again for coming and I hope you can provide valuable feedback. Thank you.
Ms. Bao Yu, co-founder of the Common Art Center, delivered a speech on site
Hello everyone, welcome to the Common Art Center. The first exhibition after the Spring Festival creates a spring atmosphere, and Teacher Jin Junjie's solo exhibition adds a unique touch of color to this season. Our gallery is honored to present Professor Cash's new work, and we would also like to express our gratitude to the curator, Professor Lv. Her curatorial philosophy and the unique perspective of the interior designer have injected richness into the exhibition.
The works created by Teacher Jin Junjie after graduation have strong anti drawing properties. Painting was originally created by layering strokes, and he hopes to eliminate and deconstruct it through subtraction. As Teacher Xie said, "abstraction" is not easy in China, and some artists use this technique. However, Jin Junjie's thinking is very free, and after removing painting, he has found a painting like quality.

The uniqueness of Teacher Jin Junjie lies in his clear and distinctive work style. Whether it is the Starry Sky series, Heat Map series, or the works exhibited this time, one can feel the freedom behind his unique artistic language. Therefore, when observing and selecting artists, we pay great attention to their uniqueness, and hope that this exhibition can bring you an extraordinary artistic experience. Thank you all for coming!
