Recently, society has been dominated by many invisible 'lines', and many people have lost their ability to think independently and make rational judgments.
Camus once said, "When disasters and disasters come, the first impression it gives us is a sense of exile. We lose patience with reality, are hostile to the past, give up the future, and live like people trapped in prison under legal sanctions. In the end, if people want to get rid of this unbearable leisure, the only way is to restart themselves in the imagined space, extending the boundaries of their will time and time again.
Perhaps this reminds us that the power of free will must be in our own hands. When the pause button is pressed in the overall environment, does the individual in the middle also pause their steps. Faced with the ever-changing circumstances, whether to remain calm and true to one's true nature, or to be influenced by these "lines" and place the "form" on top of these enclosed lines, these are the questions we need to consider at present.
This joint exhibition of Abstract art "line without shape" presented by the Common Art Center includes the works of Ge Ziyu, Ma Yongqiang, Tang Mingwei, Yu Yang, Zhang Tingqun and Zheng Jiang. What these six artists have in common is that they are all exploratory Abstract art creators.
From Kandinsky's "Arguments, Lines, Faces," and Clive Bell's description of the relationship and combination of lines and colors as "meaningful forms," "lines" gradually separated from the function of depicting a specific object and became the subject of artist expression. Each artist has a different understanding of lines, and the lines they represent are also different. In the current works of Chinese artists, we can see a more diverse presentation of works produced by the collision of Eastern and Western cultures.
Each artist's work is limited within their own materials and methods, which may seem 'limited', but the imagination presented in their works is' infinite '. The several artists participating in this exhibition each have distinct creative concepts and use different materials and techniques to present them to the audience.
